Participating in the 16 Days Against Violence (GBV & VAC)

:

In fact, we as CiAT believe that the major focus on GBV and VAC should be psychological reasons leading perpetuators to act violently and the consequences of violence to victims. That is why we say, Violence starts and ends in the MIND. It starts in the mentally ill or disturbed perpetuator who cause all kinds (physical, social, psychological) of pain to the victim but the long-lasting pain is psychological which is seldom attended to during intervention. Yes, the perpetuator will be prosecuted but did we take trouble to know why he/she acted violently, if yes, what did we do to prevent him/her from acting violently other than sending him to jail. On the other hand, yes, the victim will be medically attended to cure the physical wounds but what do we do with the internal (psychological) wounds which are not seen. How will we prevent victim from becoming a perpetuator of violence as a way of revenge, in the future? The answer is, appropriate psychological services to both groups which include Crisis Intervention, PTSD Counselling, Group Therapy, and Psycho-education.

LESSON LEARNED FROM NELSON MANDELA 1918-2013

:

From you we learned that, nothing is as real as a DREAM. The world around us can change, but our DREAMS will not change . DREAMS are within us, no one can take them away from us. Positive DREAMS reaps positive results.
Our feature lies in our dreams. What we see is what we get. Positive dreams will take us to the highest heights, while negative dreams will take us to the lowest depth. Dreaming good is the first step to success in our life. Who we will be tomorrow is who we are in our dreams today.
Nothing happens unless we first DREAM IT. It is then that we can dream our feature into existence. It is only when we have dreams that we can make dreams come true. However, there is a world of difference between DREAMER and people who have DREAMS;
DREAMERS are many but people with dreams like you MANDELA are few. DREAMERS may hatch up wild plans and ideas , but they never see them happening. People who have dreams may not blow their trumpet too loud, but if you watch, you will see it happen. People like you are driven by their dreams.
DREAMERS lack discipline, but people who have dreams like you have high level of self discipline. If we can DREAM it, we can do it.
If we can see our self happy, successful, healthy and loving life, we can make it happen.
The choice is ours, we can dream our feature into existence.

WHITE RIBBON DAY

:

25th October is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children.

Domestic Violence is a huge global problem and affects every single country in the entire world.

At this point, we would also like to acknowledge that as well as violence against women, there is also an increase in domestic violence against men. So, although today officially marks women only, it is always important to remember that men suffer too.
Perpetrators of Domestic Violence often display certain traits in their personality and behaviour, mainly just towards their victims (many perpetrators seem very charming to people outside the family and may even be 'pillars of the community' in public life).
If you think you are suffering from Domestic Violence or you know someone else who could be, seek advice and guidance - DON'T KEEP QUIET there is always someone to help.
